Website terms
These Terms of Use explain the rules that apply when you browse the Rocky Ridge Security website, use its contact form, or rely on its general information. They do not replace a written client service agreement.
The short version
Do not misuse the site, interfere with it, introduce malicious code, or test its security without written authorization.
Our pages provide general information, not advice tailored to your systems, legal duties, insurance, or specific risks.
A form submission or introductory call does not create a client relationship. Paid work begins only under an accepted agreement.
Nothing in these terms excludes rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be waived under Alberta or Canadian law.
The consultation is an introductory conversation to understand your needs and discuss possible next steps. It is not a vulnerability scan, security audit, certification, remediation service, guarantee, or substitute for a complete assessment under a written agreement.
01
These Terms of Use form an agreement between you and Rocky Ridge Security regarding your access to and use of this website, including its pages, forms, written content, graphics, downloads, and links. By accessing or using the website, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the website.
These terms govern the website and introductory inquiries only. Cybersecurity assessments, consulting, remediation, backup management, ongoing maintenance, and other paid work are governed by a separate proposal, statement of work, service agreement, or other written contract. If a client agreement conflicts with these terms about a paid engagement, the client agreement controls for that engagement.
Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, retain, and protect personal information. It forms part of the rules governing your use of the website.
02
This website is intended primarily for businesses, non-profits, professional practices, and other organizations seeking cybersecurity services. It is not directed to children.
If you use the website or submit a request on behalf of an organization, you confirm that you are authorized to provide the submitted information and to communicate with us for that organization. You must provide information that is accurate to the best of your knowledge and must not impersonate another person or organization.
03
Website content is provided for general business information and education. Cybersecurity needs depend on a business's systems, data, threats, contracts, insurance requirements, budget, and legal obligations. Content on this website is therefore not a personalized security assessment, professional opinion, legal advice, insurance advice, accounting advice, or guarantee of a particular result.
Security risks, technology, laws, product features, pricing, and industry practices change over time. We make reasonable efforts to keep website information useful, but we do not promise that every page is complete, current, or appropriate for your specific environment. Obtain advice based on your circumstances before making an important security, legal, insurance, or purchasing decision.
04
Sending a request, emailing us, speaking by phone, or attending a free consultation does not by itself create a professional-client relationship, a duty to monitor your systems, or an obligation for Rocky Ridge Security to accept work. An engagement begins only after the applicable parties accept a written agreement describing the scope, responsibilities, timing, pricing, and limitations.
Website descriptions and prices are general information, not a binding quote or offer. Availability, scope, recommendations, and final pricing may depend on information gathered during the consultation or scoping process. Any proposal may have an expiry date and additional terms.
Visiting the site or contacting us does not mean we are watching, protecting, backing up, or responding to your systems.
No assessment or security measure can eliminate every risk. Specific deliverables and responsibilities belong in the client agreement.
The website and request inbox are not monitored as a 24/7 emergency, incident-response, or security-operations service.
Work outside an accepted scope is not included unless it is added in writing by the parties.
05
You may use the form to tell us about your business, systems, service interests, approximate device or location counts, preferred contact method, timing, and general concerns. You agree not to submit information that you are not authorized to share.
Do not send passwords, access keys, recovery codes, payment-card details, social insurance numbers, patient records, personal health information, detailed vulnerability evidence, malware, or other highly sensitive information through the website, ordinary email, or an introductory inquiry. If sensitive information is required for an accepted engagement, we will arrange an appropriate method and instructions.
Form delivery and spam prevention may depend on third-party services. A successful on-screen submission does not guarantee immediate receipt or response. If your matter is time-sensitive, state the timing clearly, but do not treat the request form as an emergency reporting channel.
06
You must not use the website to:
We may restrict or block access, preserve relevant records, and report suspected unlawful conduct where reasonably necessary to protect the website, our business, our clients, or others.
07
If you believe you have found a security issue affecting this website, stop testing and contact us promptly. Do not exploit the issue, access data that is not yours, alter or delete information, disrupt service, establish persistence, use social engineering, or publicly disclose details before we have had a reasonable opportunity to investigate.
Send only the minimum information needed to explain the concern. Reporting an issue does not authorize further testing and does not create a promise of payment, recognition, safe harbour, or a professional relationship.
08
Unless otherwise stated, Rocky Ridge Security owns or is licensed to use the website's text, layout, graphics, branding, logo, reports, downloads, and other content. These materials are protected by Canadian intellectual-property laws.
We give you a limited, revocable, non-exclusive licence to access and view the website for lawful internal business or personal informational purposes. You may not reproduce, republish, sell, license, modify, distribute, frame, remove ownership notices from, or create misleading derivative uses of substantial website content without written permission.
These terms do not limit fair dealing or another use permitted by law. Product names, company names, and third-party marks remain the property of their respective owners. Their appearance does not necessarily imply endorsement or affiliation.
09
The website may link to or depend on third-party websites, software, hosting, email, form-processing, anti-spam, mapping, or communications services. Those services are operated by others under their own terms and privacy practices.
A link or reference does not mean that Rocky Ridge Security controls or endorses the third party. We are not responsible for external content, availability, security, or changes. Review the third party's terms before using its service or providing it with information.
10
We may update, correct, remove, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website without notice. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, error-free, or completely secure access. Maintenance, provider outages, internet failures, malicious activity, and events outside our reasonable control may affect availability.
11
To the extent permitted by law, the website and its general content are provided “as is” and “as available,” without express or implied warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, security, or uninterrupted availability.
Cybersecurity involves changing threats and shared responsibility. No website statement should be understood as a guarantee that a product, configuration, backup, assessment, or service will prevent every incident, loss, interruption, or unauthorized access.
Nothing in these terms excludes a warranty, condition, right, or remedy that applicable law does not permit the parties to exclude.
12
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Rocky Ridge Security and its owners, personnel, and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages arising from website use or inability to use the website, including lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, business interruption, or loss of goodwill.
These website limitations do not govern liability for paid client services where a separate agreement applies. They also do not exclude liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, including any rights or remedies that cannot be waived under applicable consumer protection law.
13
These terms and your use of the website are governed by the laws of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Alberta, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory rights provided by law, disputes relating to the website will be brought before the courts located in Calgary, Alberta.
Before starting formal proceedings, you and Rocky Ridge Security agree to make a reasonable good-faith effort to resolve a website concern through direct communication, unless urgent relief is reasonably required.
14
We may update these terms when the website, our practices, or applicable requirements change. The revised terms will be posted here with a new effective date. Your continued use after a change means the revised terms apply to later use.
If a provision is found invalid or unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue to apply.
A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of that provision or of the right to enforce it later.
These terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about use of the website. They do not replace a proposal, service agreement, confidentiality agreement, data-processing agreement, or statement of work for client services.
